If there was a subtitle this week's installment of My DC, it would probably be something like Look Up. These are all examples of stuff you'd miss if you walked along staring straight ahead.
Aren't they unusual? I just love the decorations on this building so much that I took a second picture so that you could get a better look at them. They look somewhat fern-like to me.
Over to the left, on the same building (or one directly next to it) is this. See how the soldier is perched just above the top branches of the tree. Imagine it all full of leaves and you can see how people could pass it every day, especially in the warmer months, and never know it was there.
I hope that you enjoyed this week's installment of My DC as much as I enjoyed sharing it. If you want to see more DC or - other places that bloggers have chosen to share - here is a quick list.
Sprite - DC
Sweet Pea - DC
Mia - Federick, MD
Cursing Mama - Minnesota
Carol's - Florida
Bomboniera - DC
Random Duck - DC
As you can see, DC is well represented. Do you have somewhere that you'd love to share?
I thank you all for your support this week. You have no idea how much it means to me.

How funny! I was over on K Street heading to breakfast earlier this week and thought that I ought to photograph the American Legion building artwork for a future My DC project. Great minds!
Your American Legion is much fancier than the ones we have around here!
That building is really cool!
The design work on that building is fabulous. I'd love to do that to my boring condo!
I've said it before, but you have really nice buildings there! I have to get out on a drive to get some around the place sort of shots for y'all ;) This is a fun thing you started and I love learning about the places we all live.
I love those building decorations - so cool! I instantly thought they were supposed to be sedum - Autumn Joy. I wonder what the true intent was..
Thought my eyes were playing tricks on me and you had lain down on the ground, in the shrubbery, and shot the building through the weeds (maybe Queen Ann's Lace?) and it appeared to be on the building But then I thought of who I was talking about and I knew you'd never do it. So it has to really be up there, on the building. Shapes remind me of Ginko leaves, like lady's fans. Worthy of a picture frame.

That is a beautiful building. And you are right that most people don't notice things like this.
