It's amazing how there are always little things in the landscape that surprise you.
This is a crepe myrtle in my front yard. One of 2 that we planted earlier this summer. The reason that I was so surprised to see flowers is that I didn't even think this lovely shrub would survive. We had problems digging the hole to plant it and then, one it was in the ground, I was far less diligent about watering it than I ought to have been. It's obviously got quite a will to survive.
